Having completed a wonderful 6 month anti-clockwise round Britain circumnavigation in October last year, we were delighted to get a mention in the February 2024 edition of Yachting Monthly Cruising Community section.
We wanted to raise money and awareness for the RNLI and the British Heart Foundation as we went and have raised £7,780 to date. Sailing Waikare, a Sadler 29 from Ipswich 2,345 NM around some of these Great British Isles, we were privileged to meet some of the wonderful selfless brave crew and volunteers for both charities as we went. We also met wonderful , generous sailirs and harbour/marina staff everywhere.
The Yachting Monthly page mentions an interview I video recorded with the Coxswain at the RNLI Penlee Station in Cornwall. This can be viewed on the YouTube “Sailing Waikare” Chanel which charts the circumnavigation. Having never sailed around Britain or indeed never used video footage for this purpose previously, the initial early videos posted as we went, were limited. Our confidence grew as we became more comfortable as the 6 month circumnavigation progressed.
