Is it my imagination or have the prices per kg rocketed for “professional “ sail cleaning via firms like that at Waterlooville? It seems to me little competition in the market ? We don’t have sails cleaned every year and went via a well known reputable sailmaker based near Poole who I have been impressed with for repairs BTW so far but the cleaning seemed a lot based on my recollections.

You can do it yourself.

Personally, I prefer that the 'professionals' do it and being married to a Chartered Management Accountant am well aware how costs have risen over the last fifteen years.

I thought there was only one sail cleaning place on the south coast and everyone else was just an agent for them.

Wondered about inflation the other day when looking at LED flares, PBO article dated July 2016 has the Ocean Signal at £99.96, but click on the Amazon link, it's now £160. This is more than double the rate of inflation.

I have my ocean signal so no issues there hopefully but as you say a monopoly wholesaler in tiptop for those in south . A few years ago there was a firm on hamble using rollers but they ceased trading -I just wondered if sail cleaners in south had become subject to evils of other water based businesses in the south in terms of pricing ?
