Sadler 32 - What should I look for?

Deck delamination/creaking/soft.
Leaking around chainplates (rust visable below deck around bulkhead).
Osmosis.
Leaking windows.
Cracks around stanchion bases.
What engine?

Little of the above is really serious. Generally pretty good boats.

Baby-stay deck attachment
Osmosis
Fore-hatch - original ones never v good; check its been replaced.

Above were problems on my old S32. If the engine is a Yanamar then its a replacement.

Good luck, nice boats.

Not a Starlight 39 then. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Looking for a bit more room inside and this one is a very low price though it needs updating.

Had a look on the forum, several references to leaking hatche s and windows.
At least I know what I am looking for now.
Thanks all.

G.............. Is there anything in particular that I should look for?
Cheers

[/ QUOTE ] It's a yacht 32ft long with a mast on it. You should have no problem finding it with that info.

You need to check for water ingress/delamination around the chainplates which is not a big deal to fix, and get a surveyor to check for moisture in the hull, they are old enough to suffer osmosis but this can be a bargaining point. No boat ever sunk from osmosis.

Hatches/windows are usually a function of previous owners' refits. Observe and judge. I'd be much more interested in the hull-deck join...

I have one and adore it. As a small classic GRP yacht there are few to compare.

My Sadler 32 is a great boat.

No specific problems to the Sadler 32 are evident. Hull Deck joint is sound as far as I can tell.

A little osmosis in the rudder, but hull is sound.

Windows leaked before I had them resealed. Still got a leak from a deck fitting or the main hatch garage!

A comfortable boat, and a good stable sail. Narrow stern reduces storage, but is good in a following sea.

Look at my web page for photos etc.

Just get the usual survey checks and you will be fine.

Also great owners club. All very helpful and friendly.

A sound pedigree.
