If any one has any experience of the Sabre would they be kind enough to give their opinion, a chum is thinking of one as his first boat for East coast Sailing.
A great boat, went all round Scotland in mine. It will go anywhere, thro' anything! and very forgiving. Allthough we love our new boat we still miss our Sabre.

We owned one (our first yacht) for 10 years and greatly enjoyed it.
It is real 1970s but solidly built and able to take a lot of punishment without being skittish life a modern lightweight.
We took it all along the channel including a good number of cross-channel trips.
I particularly remember doing Alderney to Dartmouth after the gale 8 subsided to 6.
It was a great trip and the Sabre handled superbly in pretty lively conditions.
It never gave us cause for concern although I recall a fair bit of weatherhelm, not that unusual I belive with a masthead rig?
I would thoroughly recommend it for a first boat, good value and secure.
It is rather like 'camping' i.e. a bit basic and when we moved to a Moody 31 we felt we had moved up to 'caravanning'.
It introduced our family to yachting and we have not looked back.
Off to pick up the Parker 275 at the week-end as now mostly only the two of us and we want some fun around the bouys during the week!!
