So what happened there? He put the leg down to guard against the boat falling outwards, but didn't reckon on the residual scouring stream undermining the keel so letting it slip away from the wall?

She's been there a few years now, it is slowly rotting away, the owner has been living aboard, not very clean, the huge wooden mast came down the last time it fell over against the wall, the owner has moved back to England, big tides and wind just this weekend.
There is not to many strong points left to put mooring lines onto, the keel sat to far out on the last tide.
She came upright on the next tide.
