S0o to get it right vp D6 i have 15 l of it mixing it 50/50 with water ,500 gph bilge pump to flush . Now the question ,i am going to flush for 3 hrs , after that would the stuff be any use doing the second engine while all the shit is there.

Depends on how clogged up your fist engine is. But I suspect it will work almost as well on the other engine. You’ve nothing to lose by trying it. That’s what I do.
 
It’s a job I was planning to do last year and I’ve got all the stuff ready to go. It’s a task you do every 10 years. I know Radlyme is expensive but is it really worth skimping? When it stops reacting how you going to know whether it’s done it’s job or just run out of the Radlyme fizz.

15litres ? That is an excessive amount for a D6. Why not halve the amount and use the other half for the other engine so both engines get fresh Rydelime and get treated equally.

It mixes 50 :50 with water for a flush.

the supply and return box needs to above the engine.

when it stops frothing it is spent.
 
If you pump in from a low level with an open return to the container it will only flow at a low level through the pipes and coolers Leaving a large part uncleaned and full of air.

if the container is above and the return goes up back to the container you should expel all the air and clean all of the pipes and cooler stacks.
 
We have a Rydlyme flush machine and the boats are always up on a cradle with the machine down on the workshop floor well below the engine. It flushes perfectly, you see the fluid going in one line and it the purges the air and fluid comes out of the other. Never had any problems treating the whole system, the design of the cooling system means there can’t be any air pockets otherwise it wouldn’t work properly when on the water.
 
Spannerman, your system is working in the same way I said above the rydlyme solution is pumped in from above the engine, feeds in with gravity and then has first go up a couple of metres before returning to a container at ground level for circulating, Yours will purge the air replacing it with Rydlyme and force out all the air.

the temptation is to have the container on the engine room floor below the engine with a gravity return from the gearbox cooler at low level and this will not force the air out and you will only circulate a third to a half of the near horizontal coolers and pipe work as it flows through.

So you are saying spanner man is wrong , I can see your theory.
 
Our pump is a big affair with inbuilt reservoir and it has valves to reverse the direction of flow, which I do after every hour. We also stop it at intervals to allow the chemical to do its job, I think 500gph will be fine as ypu don’t want it circulating too quickly.
 
A couple of observations , you need to be able to drain out all the salt water in the system before you start or flush out with fresh, and bear in mind if that any residual water left in there will dilute your mixture further. I seem to remember that Rydelyme recommend distilled water for the mix. I used a stronger mixture and it happily did both engines, KAMD44's and TAMD75's.

Impressive :) How often should this be done?
 
Seastoke I am saying Spannerman is right a fluid coming in from above and pumped in and then leaving the engine from above should be as good as my system for the reservoir and pump being above engine level.

you need to purge the air from the system and fill coolers and pipes with Rydlyme Solution.
