Stupid P_ _ t of a mechanic left nut and washers on the transome step resulting in an unsightly rust stain which has discoloured the gel. Any ideas and/or products to remove the stain would be gratefully received.

There's a proprietry product on the market available from most chandlers, goes under the name of Y10 or Hull Magic. Based on Oxalic acid, there have been recipes on here making it yourself using wallpaper paste. Best to buy the proper product IMHO.

In the August edition PBO, page 152, there was an article by Andrew Simpson, Good Gear Guide -extolling the virtues of a rust remover.

He reckons it is the best thing on the market. ".... a blessed concoction if ever there was one".

I posted the above in August, but forgot to add the name of the product.

The only thing is, I cannot find my August PBO. Perhaps someone else can find the name of the product, as I am still interested in getting some.

regards,
Philip
