Rust marks on GRP

I have had it for some time. I am not sure where I bought it, but it was definitely in the UK although it now seems only available in the US.

Mix oxalic acid solution with FAIRY LIQUID (I use a 1:1).

It is WAAAAYYYY easier to wash off than wall paper paste.
Plus the detergent in the FL helps to remove oily stains.
Plus the green dye helps you see where you have spread it (if you are treating a white GRP coat).

As others have said: do this when it is still warm.

Plus one for this, I mix it in peanut butter jars and have given some to others, many of whom have come back for the recipe... being tight I use Aldi liquid....

Bag Oxalic acid 250g £5.00
250g Oxalic Acid•Hull•Deck•GRP Cleaner & Rust Remover-99,5% | eBay

Y10. about 8% Oxalic poss. 25 g. £15.00

Large horizontal areas decks etc , including cracks around stantion bases, go for a bag and mix yourself.
So, at 90g/L (~solubility at 20C), with £5 you will have ~ 2.8L of saturated solution. If you add ALL of this Fairy Liquid from Amazon (there may well be cheaper sources), you will have 5L of perfectly serviceable thick gloopy gel to treat your decks and topsides for £15... enough to last you several seasons, I think.

Note: oxalic acid is toxic enough to make it "Not a Good Thing" to drink (even if it is a very "natural product" (see rhubarb)). It does sting if you get it on your skin, worse, if you get it in your eyes, so take care and use appropriate PPE.
