Any corrections to the above should be submitted in writing on this thread as soon as possible as I have to submit the passage plan to the MCA and the Oban and Tobermory Distilleries

Re: Runners and Riders 2006 Chentleman\'s Cruise

Having spoken to Webthingy this morning, I understand that Mrs Webthingy is on again (Avilion?) and Silkie is slightly over-manned with Myranni and Webthingy as joint first mates. Hopefully Sgeir may be able to provide overflow sleeping accomodation.

Re: Runners and Riders 2006 Chentleman\'s Cruise

Does this mean that the webthingies will be sailing in separate crafts?

Littleboyblue was around on the list for a time - any news?

Re: Runners and Riders 2006 Chentleman\'s Cruise

Much as the thought of hot-bunking three up on a luxuryless pocket cruiser appeals to my Calvinistic nature . . . I feel I might possible be grovelling for a berth on the somewhat less luxuryless Shard - assuming of course that the whisky tanks have been refilled since my last visit.

The suggestion has been that some of us may wish to take turns crewing on Silkie for the sheer enjoyment of being nearly as big as the boat you are sailing . . . HTS has certainly expressed a desire to have a shottie at manning the Pope's helm at some point during the cruise.

Main confusion appears to be Thursday night, with Avilion probably still at Craobh and Silkie and Shard in Oban. Whither the good ship Claymore that night, and is there any kind of a plan for a meeting of minds and vessels on the Friday?

The tide turns W and N at Cuan approx. 11.45 Friday (Springs) - will we all meet up enroute to Lochaline and have a complete Deja Vu experience, or should the Northerners get their sterns through Cuan before noon on the Friday?

Or . . . there's always Colonsay or Bunessan or Coll, with no tidal probs . . . rendezvous in Easdale Sound Friday for a lunchtime snifter at the Oyster Brewery then wester off into the sunset? Just a thought.

Answers on a postcard to the Cruise Director . . .

- N

NB - If the doldrums extend all the way to Ardnamurchan on Friday as promised by TCM then Silkie might need a tow . . .

Re: Runners and Riders 2006 Chentleman\'s Cruise

OK
Claymore will be in kilmelford on Thursday Evening but the crew will take drink in Oban via the humble Espace.
Avilion cannot leave Croabh until Friday morning as RipVan is working and wont be there until late Thurday.
So the pair of us will come through Cuan together - side by side on Friday and then meet up with the rest of you.
No point in putting in Silkie-bashing legs so we'll have a weigh-up of the weather and take a vote on it then. Needs to be a pub there!

Re: Silkie-bashing legs?

Silkie threatened to sail the erse off Fairwinds last time we were out together but luckily the tiller broke before we were embarrassed . . . If there's any wind the wee ship will keep up OK - but if it's the Doldrums it may be a different story.

Kathy and HTS are crewing on Avilion so will probably drive to Oban then down to Craobh after a modest libation . . . unless anyone has another plan . . .

Silkie-bashing legs

WHIT!

Do my eyes deceive me or is this a fat-arsed motor-sailer casting aspersions on the sailing qualities of a finely-drawn ocean whippet like the Hurley 22?

I'll see you on the water, sir! /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Re: Silkie-bashing legs

'bout time the cruise director stamped his authority on proceedings .. erm .. where is St Kilda ...

Re: Runners and Riders 2006 Chentleman\'s Cruise

A plan appears to be developing

Oban Inn for a few libations Thursday Evening

Avilion and Claymore meet around 11ish Friday by Cuan
then
Shard and Silkie rendezvous at around 12 ish by Insh/Pladda.

Perhaps Colonsay for Friday Evening
Perhaps Tobers for Saturday Evening - or we could head through Islay Sound and wander around to Craighouse or Gigha

Hoos o' they tumblin troosers for Sunday.

I've not worked out any tides for anything other than Friday morning!!
