Rules on name on boat?

Do they really let canoes go through the locks?
Around here (River Trent ) they lift the canoe and walk around the lock with it. On the whole it's the easier and safer approach.

We may occasionally be asked to stop the engines but its rare .
There's a public right of navigation across all parts of the river, whatever your vessel looks like, even stand up paddle boards can go through, daft as that seems.

We shared several locks last year with a pair of narrowboats whilst we were running in our new outboard on the dinghy.

Had a very pleasant run up the Chesterfield Canal.

Certainly something we will do again.

I didn't think any modern engine had to be run in, or even warmed up for that matter?

It's nice to see a canal boat where they belong. Not on the Thames:D
