I bought a second hand toughbook on ebay plus additional memory - under £200 3 years ago. Slow by modern standards but runs my nav and plotter programmes OK.
Main reason for buying it was concern about vibration, thumping off waves, etc damaging hard drive while running (as opposed to when turned off). No problem so far and a lot lighter power drain than my new Acer.
Am happy to use the toughbook as a plotter when underway, and when it does fail I will have had my moneys worth out of it.
