Rudder position?

Hi,
I'm not vastly experienced and have recently purchased a flybridge C- Kip with hydraulic steering.
Problem is I seem to struggle with the rudder position in relation to the wheel position, I set the inner helm wheel at what i think is straight ahead and then go to the flybridge but each time I go out it seems to have moved. Last time I marked it with a piece of tape but yesterday I went out and it was a full half turn different.
On casting off from a tight berth I noted the flybridge wheel was straight ahead as marked but I quickly found out I wasn't
How does it work, each wheel seems independent but then overides each other. Does moving the wheel with the engines off effect the rudder position when restarted?
I bought a rudder indicator that sticks in the centre of the wheel but it seems useless unless it is designed for single wheel boats.
Any tips or advice would be most welcome.
