FIRSTLY...can all the haters start a separate thread about how poor the general seamanship is, how people had best start mixing gelcoat now, and how outrageous it is that sometimes the same stricken vessel is sometimes called in on the VHF more than once. I know some people have had bad experiences, and I sympathise, but this is a great event that raises a lot of cash for charity, and I just wanted to see if any other forumites were out there and wanted some friendly racing. So in a "boat type, boat name, flag and start time" style, I'll start it off. And add anything of note too!

Sabre 27, Summer Girl, Purple, 0640. New standing rigging, new sails, home made carbon bowsprit nearly finished, and hoping for a chance to use it with the new chute...so expecting great things this year (yeah right...). Also feeling sorry for the one girl (not my SWMBO) who gets to share a 27' boat with 4 snoring, farting blokes for the weekend.

Any more?

Sadler 32, Spearhead, Dayglo Green, 0630 - Trying to work out what time to leave Haslar Marina to get there in time... me thinks it will be an 0500 start...SWMBO is not impressed!

Nothing new, indeed much the same state as we were in last year (shambles). Looks like its going to be another fresh race - 24kts forecast? See you out there.

Especially when you tell her you require the bacon butties at 0415! :D

X-302 shoal draft "Quickstep", Day-glo Green start (division 7) , 6:30 start.

Replaced all standing rod rigging and running rigging, new mast head spinnaker spinnaker halyard, for "BIG F*** Off" spinnaker 90Sqm instead of standard 51+Sqm. Changed from No.1 Genoa to No.3 blade jib to improve handicap (gain about 2½%) and all new tacktick instruments.

Hope to improve on last year's position of 45th.

Current forecast not looking good for us, need good beat and long run around the back of the island, but looks like NNW F4/5

Hope ypu all have fun and get around safely

I'll be out - leaving the Hamble at 0300 for an 0540 start.

If the wind speed is 24 knots, then we may stay in bed. No point our taking the boat out in less than 32 if we want to have a chance of being competitive.

PS Will the forum weather man be doing a video again this year. His forecast was remarkably accurate last year.

We're in: Sunbeam 44, Nooka, Black Flag, 0540 start. Shum mishtake shurly as we have a similar and in one case worse handicap than Sweden 45s (which was the boat we really wanted but couldn't afford - don't tell Nooka) - suspect I filled the form in wrong. First time as skipper and first time I will try to fly the cruising chute - not sure we have all the necessary bits but going to have a play on Friday. Plan on mooring up at at Folly Friday night and maybe Saturday.

Great Idea! (Y)

How's about having regional 'Forumite' RTIR .... (I just haven't got the 'R'-Bug yet!) ... & I will have to inform my insurance ... :( ... but after my conversation with them (GJW) last year I am covered for 'night-hours' ... :)

New thread me-thinks! ... :)

"Kalula" alloy J51, weve just finished a refit on her, new deck, paint etc.
See photo below of sea trials last weekend off Southwold.
She's on route now for Pompy.
We have a terrible rating, looks like we need to finish a hour before we start !
It'll be good fun though although not looking forward to the 05:40 start :(
We draw 10' as well so I'll not be hugging the shoreline.

Purple Mist, Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 36i Blue Flag 6:10 Start

Just had to buy a new Navionics card as I accidently left it in my pocket as the trousers went through the washing machine Monday and chart plotter definitely required to get close in at the Needles
4th time, best result was my first year and been going downhill ever since -
Hoping for light airs, being a light boat ..... though then I will be upset as I still dare not register the cruising chute

Good Luck everyone

Joseph, last time I raced against you was a Fireball open at Draycote many years ago! Will keep a look out for you, and get some pics if we see you. First time?

Not playing this year, but will be "lurking" somewhere off Bembridge (with a bunch of mates on the boat) with a camera, so if you shout and wave as you go past, I'll take some pics of you.

Not me personally (bl**dy jealous though) but a couple of mates are doing it in this. An Olympic silver medalist and the guy who skippered the winning ISC boat two years running... don't think they'll really be trying though!!
