Technically it is allowed now for same household teams who live near their boat.

I am expecting restrictions to be eased in June and not before. The government is under pressure to end lock down at Easter but I don't think that they will have had enough time for all the vaccinations to have had effect. The government knows that when they unlock us after people have had the vaccine that they are going to go back to normal behaviour even though 50% of the population still won't be vaccinated at that time.

My guess is the organisers won't have enough time between unlockdown[sic] and the event unless they decide to hold it in August or September.

Given Boris' love of dates the 3rd would be a poor choice. If they choose July it'd be 4th again. They used this last year along with 5th November and Christmas and they're planning valentines day if there's a relaxation and for schools as well as talking about Easter. Obviously they're following the science, not an event calendar though ;)

I think Boris is kept on a short leash by his latest woman, his days of philandering are presently curtailed ?

What does the panel think the odds on there being a RTIR in 2021 are?
Better than 2020....

In my head I'm planning a fairly normal racing season from June onwards. As we get through the current peak, and also see the speed of the vaccine roll-out I think we'll see how realistic that will be.

Seems a sensible basis for planning, if only to stay sane in the meantime. Fingers crossed.

Going ahead by the looks of it...
1131 entries at the moment. Decent but not record breaking....

Looking forward to it!

Did one four or five years ago when it was pretty sprightly (25-30). We were going fine until the genoa shredded itself...

2019 took 15 odd hours in a 45 footer, finishing just before closedown at about 22:00... and it was hot on the south side of the Island in no breeze

10 years ago we saw 37 knots at the needles.

This year, with 6 knots at the start, it may be an anchorfest if people miss the tide at the needles.
I still have a photo from 2011 on my wall... One of the very best days on the water I can remember.

Forecast is starting to look a bit more promising for saturday, most of the models are now showing the SW breeze arriving before midday. Should be early enough to get the vast majority of the fleet around.
