Not having any PERSONAL experience...

..but from friends in the same situation I believe it is the ACTUAL "getting" on board that should be approached with caution.

Do NOT sit astride the guardwires for a month or two!!

Congratulations on having the balls to think about sailing after the operation.
I presume you had a good buy with your boat and that it was a snip. No doubt you will now consider yourself a cut above the rest.
You will find it should make a "vas deferens" to your sailing.
