I would like to start coastal rowing but being up in the North West (Morecambe Bay) there is a very fast tide.
I have done some sailing but most my experience is flat water sailing and white water kayaking.
How does a boat typically move with the tide, do you have to move faster than the tide or will the tide to an extent pass under the boat?
Can this be used to an advantage if you go out with the tide then come back in with it allowing a good distance to be covered, I believe the waterline at low tide can be upto 12km out!
