Round Mallorca Trip. What else could go wrong.

Hi Mike, was the boat called 'Miami to Ibiza' by any chance.

The owner was an English guy who now lives in the USA. He had a young South African who was the captain and a very experienced French lady who was attempting to teach the owner how to handle the boat, and she got very heated at times.

Unfortunatly the owner just seemed to ignore her and was oblivious of everyone around him.

Nice enough chap off the boat but a real danger when he tried to be a mariner.

No, we think that he was Israeli - don't think English was his mother tongue
His crew (wife?) seemed to be quite skillful at fending off - maybe lots of practice!!

Have to ask if the catamaran was a Fountaine Pajot called Elena? If so we met him on the RCNP med mooring pontoon in Palma last week. We were away from the boat but apparently he used my boat as a turning point and then added injury to insult by cutting my bow mooring line. Marineros and friendly yachties re-tied her. We returned 3 hours later and he was still trying to get her straight on the med mooring.

No apparent damage fortunately as the boat was Russian owned and sailing under the Cook Islands flag doing unlicensed charter work.

No Andrew, not called Elena.

Name was 'Miami to Ibiza', I still have nightmares about it.

But very nice friendly people though.

We are out at our apartment in Cala D'Or and walking through the marina this morning thought we would stop and introduce ourselves of you were about but the boat I assumed was yours was all locked up so we missed you!

Despite your travails I think you got back to Cala D'Or just in time as the weather is turning now, as I write there is a huge storm brewing.

Hope to catch up with you sometime in the future

Rgds

Hi Meddy,

Boat is called Acuarela, (Mallorcan Spanish for Water Colours) and is easy find on one of your marina walks.

Sorry to have missed you but we have had to return home for some family celebrations and will not be out again until late October to close up the boat for the winter.

The team that look after the boat tell me the island has been having bad storms so they have erected the cockpit cover and pulled the boat further away from the dockside and put extra mooring lines on.

Please give us a knock when you see us on the boat, you are most welcome.

Doug & Shirley

Thanks Doug, will look forward to catching up with you.

Tonight's storm was just thunder & lightning and seems to have passed for now but looks unsettled for the next few days.

Well what a shame I didn't realise you had a place there. I have been there twice, this summer and last, in recent times. Staying Cala Serena et al. Lets meet next summer x

Hi Diana, hope you are keeping well.

Yes we have an apartment behind Cala D'Or Marina and try to get out there as often as work permits.

It would be lovely to catch up with you next year, please let me know when you will be there and if our dates coincide we will sort something out.

Regards

Martyn
