Another thought is that you will probably benefit a lot from motor sailing. It is amazing how much extra speed and economy you can achieve even with very light winds across your direction of travel. I often see boats motoring when they could be motor sailing. As you go on your trip I suggest play with this aspect. On a long leg getting in quicker with more fuel is very worthwhile.

It depends quite a bit on boat type - and waves. With a fastish boat with decent sail area, in flat water we virtually never motor sail, as upwind or reaching we can sail efficiently in just knots breeze, and with any less the apparent wind is near dead ahead so have to furl the jib.
So for us pretty much sailing only or motoring only, with jib furled but main still hoisted in hope of sailing again soon.
