Now I m not an out and out power boat man and certainly not ,at my time of life, a boy racer. I am however a motorboat man. (7knots Max)
I am,for my sins, to take part in the upcoming 2008 Round Britain Powerboat race. Now I know that the raggies here will not be particularly interested, and I know that I am north of the Orwell, but, the race is starting on 21st of June at Portsmouth and will stop over at Lowestoft on the following Sunday. The boring part for the forumites from south of the Orford Ness,is that the crew consists of local men from Lowestoft, with the exeption of Bob who is from darn sarf. The Boat was built in Lowestoft (not more than 200 meters from where I am now) and took part in the 1969 race and was 7th Overall. Could I ask the East coast Forum contributors to show a bit of support? There will be a website showing the race progress and I will post the site nearer to the date.

Just looked at the website and read this
'On Saturday 21st June 2008 tradition will be honoured with 50 craft starting off the shores of Portsmouth, at Southsea Castle.

The start of the Round Britain Powerboat Race will take place in two stages from Southsea Castle. The first stage will start at 9.30am and the second stage will start at 10.00am - so if you miss the boats at Gunwharf Quays, you'll have the chance to watch them streaming down the Solent for their first leg of over 170 miles to Plymouth.'

I cannot wait for all the moans about wash etc on scuttlebutt!

I was told the other week that there are South Coast Yotties and East Coast Sailors - so think you do get a different sort here! Have a good trip.
