I sent my Rotostay forestay for replacement to Rotomarine several weeks ago on the promise that they could turn it around by the end of that week.............I am still waiting. They keep telling me that they are waiting for parts /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif They promised to phone me today and let me know when it will be ready as my boat is booked for launch shortly.......no call.
What are my options besides waiting (forever?), can anyone else make up these forestays that are used on older Rotostay's? It has two 'D' shaped sleaves crimped to the stay, one at the top and the other at the bottom to hold the foil.

I've had all my remaining standing rigging done recently by a local rigger, but the forestay has these 'non standard' 'D' shaped foil supports fitted top and bottom............if I could buy these elsewhere I'm sure my local rigger could fit them..........if not then it's looking like I'll have to get a Plastimo furler for now......... /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I have an old Rotostay forestay here and the D-shaped pieces are welded to what look like standard swage end fittings.

Perhaps you could get swage end fitting from a rigger, take them to an engineering firm , have them make up the D-shaped pieces and weld them on. Then take the modified fittings to the rigger and get them swaged onto to a new forestay.

A bit of messing about but it might get you sailing again in a few days.

Sad, used to be a great company when Ian ran it. I think you will find his son Paul is now in charge.

No Ian is still there, I spoke to him last Saturday
I'm suprised at this post because they have a good reputation and offer a good service. There must be some good reason for this problem

Sorry to hear you're having problems getting your forestay. It must be that there really is a problem getting your parts because I took mine in to the shop today and they made me a new one while I waited.

Just my bad luck I guess. It is an old Rotostay and I think that they must 'sub out' their manufacture work and they may have been let down by them?

I'm seriously considering a new Plastimo instead as this uses a standard forestay.......unfortunately my already overstretched budget doesn't stretch to a new Rotostay.

Thanks for all the replies.
