Rope rode Vs Gypsy?

I don't need lessons on anchoring with rope / rope chain / chain thank you.

And it would normally be hand hauled rope till chain can sit on gypsy ...

Not attempting to give you any "lessons" just pointing out how a rope chain gypsy is used for hauling anchor loads. It was you who brought in the idea of using it to haul someone up the mas - not sure why as nobody emse has even mentioned the possibility.

The shop that wants to sell me the rope showed me a gypsy that would take chain and rope with the rope gripping section towards the center of the spindle. My gypsy doesn't have this, but will it still pull rope?

If the gypsy doesn't have a slot for the rope then unlikely it will be much good to pull rope. The gypsy with the slot does seem to work very well on my Lofrans , though seldom used. The rope/chain splice needs a bit of hand to get through, and helps to keep the loads down during the rope section which is easy enough. No great disaster with 50m chain imho, just pull up the rope by hand or round a halyard winch.
Done it in south america/ Caribbean with no rope slot.
Or windlass. Or engine.... Bit stressy but doable.

Unlikely to be used much anyway with 50m chain

i have rope and chain, on a suitable lewmar gypsy, provided the rope is the correct type it all works np
took me 2 goes with new rope for it to wind in correctly and settle in the locker
the existing rope on the boat was way too stiff and did not go down the windlass hole
the rope suggested by lewmar was too soft and also did not go down
get a section of whatever rope you want to use and try that before you set it all up

We use the rope gypsy every day. We haul dinghy up the side of the boat at night with it. We also use it to take my up the mast for inspections, etc. Very easy to use.

I assumed a typo error and took that as ME ....

Looks like another case of people 'speed reading' ???

I have no problem about using rope / chain gyspy for hauling as long as it is not for such where injury or serious risk is possible.
