Hi Folks,

Had nice sail today and decided the ropes for adjusting position of the main sheet traveler and ropes for adjusting position of the genoa cars on their tracks need replacing. . Assume low stretch needed and bendy enough to go around the the blocks at either end but would like advise on suitable rope types . We cruise so nothing racy needed.

Many thanks

Rob

The length is unlikely to be enough for stretch to be significant, so it all comes down to handling. The line needs to be as large as possible for comfort, but small enough to fit and work with the cleats. In my case the cleats for the traveller are mounted on s/s lugs and the extra force needed to free the lines cause one of the lugs to bend and need replacing when I changed the lines for larger ones, but this will be an unusual situation.

I just used what rope I had in my shed, double braid, possibly Marlowbraid, 7 or 8mm diameter from memory. On an old Lewmar track with newer Lewmar end pulleys and cam cleats.
