I need to clamp two tensioned 6mm ropes together side by side. I could whip them together but ideally I'd have a solution that is easier to remove and reapply.

Clamps like these won't do because only one rope can exit at one end: EASY ROPE SPLICING CLAMPS..

Needs to be seawater proof. Any suggestions?

Thanks

I bought on of these for 6mm lines onto my wind pilot...very handy piece of kit...

What 6mm rope are you using for the Windpilot? I (permanently) stretched 8mm polyester rope so I went to dyneema. Can those "CamJam" block dyneema?
Also, the ad says breaking load about 280lbs, IMHO much too low when one experiences the loads a WP can develop when under stress (say pendulum on one side and boat running down a wave at 8-9-10kt)
thanks :)

I have a bigger one than the one I linked to, The line is some kind of dyneema with an outer sheath that was used as a furling line on a weird furler I bought a few years ago...

I have not yet managed to get the wind pilot functioning, the fact is that I have not time to sail without numerous issues to contend with...

And I suspect there is something incorrectly assembled, I bought it used but time will solve all...?

Saturday may provide the opportunity...

I tested those and some similar models for a mag. So bad I would not carry them home from the store if they were free.

Seizings worked well with hemp ropes, but with nylon they are pretty lame. They are very nearly impossible to get tight enough to match knot strength, let alone rope strength (based on testing).

And not wire rope clamps. Synthetic fibers do NOT respond to compression in the same way as steel.

Just tie a knot unless you are willing to make a legitimate splice.

Maybe tie a figure of 8 knot at the right place on 1 rope, then re-thread the other rope along that knot. A bit fiddly and hard to adjust, but should be very effective at holding two ropes together with the pull more-or-less along the same line.
