Rodman 41

Nice boats. Shaft drive version is the one to have.
Galley is a bit tight but you can’t gave everything in 44 feet and the three cabins are good as is saloon.

£130k is not wet your knickers and get on the next flight cheap - more a reasonable price. These were changing hands fir sub €100k in 2014/15, the market turning up will mean those days have probably gone. I’d have thought a good price is around the €110-120k mark. If you want a 41/44 then only you can decide if it’s worth a look.

It’s in Italy, with an Italian broker so you will pay 3-5% commission on top of the agreed price, don’t whatever you do pay a deposit (even with a contract you have zero protection) and if you shake the guys hand check you still have the right number if fingers, your wedding ring and watch...

Cheers for the info.

As you may recall I've been looking for a 3 cabin boat for a couple of months now but just so little around in the UK and not much in the rest of Europe either. No surprise that decent condition well looked after boats with a good practicable layout are like hens teeth.

But plenty of two cabin boats designed for you couples with large families or older couple with no kids hanging about.

hey ho i'll keep looking.

Having bought a boat in Italy and moved it back to the UK, you need to watch out for pricing on road transport out of Italy - basically it's either a nightmare, stupidly expensive or both of the above !. Much easier to move by sea to France then truck it back from there. Not all Italian brokers are as described by Whitelighter - but some certainly are !
Good luck.

A friend just bought a boat in Italy. He said the paperwork and red tape was a nightmare. Transport was big money out of Italy so he moved it to France by sea. I think transport in Italy is expensive because a lot of the routes back towards the UK have very restrictive tunnels. I know from my sailing days that there were very strict width regulations for trailers in Italy. One class of keelboat, the J24, even had a canting trailer designed by an Italian company to tilt the boat through around 30 degrees to bring it under the width restriction.

Hi Jez, that's very interesting, 5% commission sounds ok, but from the BUYER? Does the IT broker also get 5% commission from the seller, or is it just the opposite way round from how we do it in the UK?

Found this so what do we think?

Price is good and worth a trip maybe?

Any ideas as to cost of road bringing back to UK?...if it was under 20K to do it then its worth it. No idea about road transport costs from Italy and not sure exactly where it is either.

I welcome your thoughts?

When considering whether this is a good deal, don't forget to factor in the hassle that you will have understanding the Italian registration system and the challenge of obtaining proof (if you need finance) that VAT has been paid.
