Hi all,
I want to transport my sail boat of 14meter length from Port Napoleon to La Rochelle in May.
Does anyone know of a good road transport company who could
undertake this for me?
Any idea of cost?
Thanks for your help alan

When we considering a move in the Med area, we were advised to contact all Brit. companies to see if they had an empty return load. Though somewhat smaller than yourself we were quoted over £4k for a shorter trip than you plan.

Can't the marina offer any help?

Three suggestions, we know all three.

1) Isabelle Poiraud of Augizeau - i.poiraud @ altead.com -
http://augizeau.online.fr/En/Augizeau.htm - big firm but not necessarily expensive. Maybe based in La Rochelle, can't quite remember.

2) Bernard of Chantier Fluviale, Castelsarrasin - 06 22 61 55 12 (Veronique's mobile, she speaks better Anglais) but 14m may be too big for Bernard's rig. Small, very well known on the s.w waterways. Fax 05 63 32 11 56.

3) Lindsey Anderson - http://www.andersonsboattransport.com - based in Cornwall but operates throughout France and Spain. Really nice helpful guy.

Post again or PM me if you want some griff on going through the waterways, mastless or not.

I've another 3 of 5, apart from those mentioned by Grehan.
My query was specific, mast transportation for 14.73m, so not necessarily into transporting hulls. If you'd like the list PM me. I got it from Navy Service just by the canal to port st Louis.

For the mast I was looking at €1500-1750, I'd guess a hull unless it will fit on a standard low loader will be x4-5 that price.

My guess would be to expect about 3,750€ Port Napoleon to La Rochelle. Maybe. Based on an Augizeau estimate, but not the most recent one 'cos I can't find that! I also have another name - Delphine - at Augizeau. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
Consistently recommended (no personal experience) for mast transportation is http://www.masttransporte.de/ (speak to Wolfgang). I think he knows Port Napoleon and all the other entrance/exit ports including Stephan Reiset at Le Havre.
I'm guessing that at 14m the draft is such as to rule out an inland waterways route to UK. If it isn't then there is a highly pleasant and cheaper option to consider. IMHO.
