Hello all,

I was just wondering on the offchance if anyone knew if the ex RN Yacht "Adventure" as raced in the Whitbread RTW (1973?) still exists?

I have a picture of my sister and I sitting in it with my great uncle (who skippered it I believe) and I always wondered what happened to it.

A long shot perhaps, but I haven't been part of the sailing world very much, so, I thought it might be worth asking.

Cheers

Matt

If I remember right, in the early years, the 4 blue ones were mostly used by the RN, the 3 red ones by the army and the 32 light blue by the RAF. but they became very much interchangeable as the services shrank to a size where everyone left could have one each.....

Racer, Chaser, Dasher and Adventure were the 4 RN boats.
I crewed on Chaser shortly after she was handed over to the RN in 1975. I joined her in Faslane and we took part in a series of races organised by the Clyde Cruising Club. I remember some spectacularly bad weather in the North Channel on the first race which started in the Clyde, round a turning mark in Belfast Lough then onwards to Crinan.
