Does anyone in North Wales (Pwllheli/Porthmadog) have a large hand rivet gun they would be prepared to lend me for a weekend. Or near my home in Cheshire or meeeersyside.

I have seen the consetina <s> type at screwfix for £39.00 but I am sure I have seen cheaper, the other type where you push the two arms together would also be acceptable, although last time I used one (hired) I knackered my shoulder and chin when it slipped and I slapped myself full belt.

So, can anyone lend me one /forums/images/icons/smile.gif or point me to a stockist in the NW cheaper than screwfix? I am fed up of google and yahoo now as all I seem to get is a labyrinth of new business search engines. Has anyone else noticed this of late.

I bought a pair like you describe from EBay cost about £12.00. I'd lend them to you but you're a long way from Hampshire.

Watch the size Julian.
I have a draper set with arms which will not take 6.4mm rivets. I had to buy a larger pair of lazytongs to rivet bits on my mast.
Unfortunately the postage to send a set from here would be more than the cost for you to hire a set.

Others have covered the riveter. I agree with you about Google - those search sites covering everything are definately becoming a hassle when Googling.
p.s. is meeerseyside where the Dutch scousers live?

Unfortunately the last time I hired, because the hire shops on or around the Llyn penninsular did not have any on their books, I had to source locally. Because this meant a full weekend hire it came to around £22.00. Quite expensive to put six rivets into my crosstree I thought.

Maybe I am going to have to take the plunge and buy some,

Anyone want to hire a lazytong riviter in North Wales, competitive rates? /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

I got my boatyard to do it, as the mast was already down and I had the monel rivets, it was quick & cheap.

some years ago i lost a halliard up the mast. as i had in any case planned to fit steps, i bought them and worked my way up the mast fitting them as i went. the tool i used was an ordinary pop riveter with big monel rivets. it takes a bit of strength but worked ok.

screwfix have them at £14.99 <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.screwfix.com/app/sfd/cat/pro.jsp?id=10068&ts=92506>here</A>
