Ah, that looks like Newark on the River Wey. Can see the first piccy is the Wey as well, not sure where, Thames Lock perhaps.

I used to spend nearly all my time on the Wey, fabulous river.

Yup , right on both pics . The first is just comming in to Thames lock . It is a lovely river and great for a weekend trip . I think we did a four day trip ( me and the boat in front ) It was great to be in the middle of no where and spark up a barbie with a few mates and beer . We still talk about doing it again but the last two seasons have been crap . The plan is to get on to the basingstoke canal and see that aswell .

The Basingstoke would be great. I'd moved away from the area by the time the canal was restored. I was involve in the Surrey and Hants Canal Soc. from day one. Worked on several projects prior to council owner ship, bit of towpath clearance (illegal at the time /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif ), help build a pair of gates for Ash lock at Ash Vale. Also went on several pounds using trailed craft, Woking and summit from Ash lock to Greywell. Happy days, lots of /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
