The latest edition of River Thames Guide (the official British Marine Federation app) will roll out over the next 24 hours.
Users of both versions for Apple (iPhone, iPad, iPod, Mac), the Lite version for Android and the full version for Amazon will be offered an update through their App Store; users with the recommended full version for Android or Windows will need to download and install the latest version from the app support site (www.riverthamesguide.net).
Improvements in this issue include:
-Added EA phone numbers for river conditions updates
use when no internet connection available
-Tidied up Advice sections
improved layout for easier reading
-Added Fluvial Flows to tidal conditions
-Added more terms to the Glossary
-Lock pages now show distance to next in miles and kilometres
-Added list of VHF Channels (in Advice/Rules for Tidal Thames)
-Non-tidal current conditions
now include date of last EA update
-Overlay map with lock names
add a 'tooltip' to each lock icon
see every lock name at a glance
-For Thames fishing
added map showing where fishing permitted at locks
(where available)
Most of the new features follow requests from users so feedback is worthwhile!
The full version (River Thames Guide) gives the best on-device performance but is a big download (c650 Mb); the Lite version is functionally identical (but only about 50 Mb download) but needs an internet connection for the interactive maps to work.
The amazon version is now available fro many more and recent Amazon devices.
