River Stour in Dudley UK - Navigable?

It is not. There may be short stretches where you could possibly float a canoe, but there would be no point.

Essentially it's a shallow stream or drainage channel, some of it in culverts.

I take it it is nothing like the Danube then?

Can you sail down the Danube?

The only major European river to flow west to east, the Danube River originates in Germany's Black Forest. You can sail on it to eight countries: Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Germany, Hungary, Romania, Serbia and Slovakia. It then divides into three main branches, called the Danube Delta, before reaching the Black Sea

Now wouldn't that be an adventure:p:cool:(y)

I idly read up a little a few years back about the possibility (read 'fantasy'!) of 'doing' the Danube. I got the impression from various websites that it was surprisingly challenging from a bureaucracy point of view. How reliable or up to date those websites were, I couldn't tell. It seemed however, that each of the many countries you pass through (and parts of the Danube are the border between two countries), had different regulations applying to differently categorised sizes and types of boats as regards licences etc., when, where and for how long they could be obtained, and various other requirements. (Apart from visas, Brexit and all that jazz that the skipper and crew might require.)

Finding out exactly what was required, let alone complying with all the conflicting requirements, appeared very, very challenging, and likely almost to preclude such a trip for all but the most determined. Surely it can't be that difficult?

However, I might give the Black Sea a miss this particular year.

Have a read of this:
The Unlikely Voyage of Jack de Crow - Wikipedia

England to the Black Sea in a Mirror Dinghy!!!!!

That book's a real hoot!
