River Pageant - 2015

Where does it say that powered boats are excluded? I wish them luck with their pageant if it involves sailing boats, unless they're planning on doing widths.

A river restriction notice can only be issued by the EA so don't go counting chickens yet!

I will be asking questions about this at the TNUF meeting next Monday.

I for one await the answer with interest.
If Ramage's posts are correct it may be us folk with big old stink pots are viewed as dinosaurs to be tolerated, captive cash cows so to speak.
Richard Shead has stated on this forum he believes the future of boating on The Thames is day boats.
Be interesting given the EA's financial plight,to ask how they would finance The Thames from 'row boat revenue'.

I read the reply differently. Ramage says ATYC has been rebuffed. You could interpret this not that they do not want powered craft involved, just that they do not want any particular club muscling in and making it a club event (I am not saying ATYC would do this, just that it could be an interpretation e.g. Pageant says "its our football and we are going to be in charge")

And will the EA be getting some of ".............. the £8.3m estimated cost of a local Magna Carta anniversary celebration."

Will the EA ensure all the locks from Bisham Abbey to Runnymede will be manned by full time staff plus assistants to help the unpowered craft lock through?

This would seem a rather excessive high cost for running the celebrations of 800 years of the Magna Carta. Any way we have William Marshall to
thank for the Magna Carta not King John.

ATYC is the umbrella organisation representing the Motor Boat clubs on the river. The organisers are well aware of this. The attitude is clear, powered craft (other than Safety Boats) not welcome.
