Proposed Clyde navigation fees - in the bin

Reported at the end of the long thread below last week. It is good that they have been cancelled. I suspect there is more too it than their altruism. I wonder if it would have survived a legal challenge.

Some of the "what does the RYA do for the cruising sailor, anyway?" types may want to grant, grudgingly, the RYA a little credit for their part in heading this off.

RYA Scotland welcomes change of tack from Clydeport

(though I daresay there will be plenty of organisations wanting to take some credit- and much credit is due, as a broad-based pushback was probably contributory)

Absolutely - the RYA did a great job on behalf of Scottish boaters, ably lead by their Scottish CEO - and also big thanks to Stuart McMillan MSP, chair of the Holyrood Cross Party Group (CPG) on Recreational Boating & Marine Tourism.

But also very much an exemplar in terms of cooperation across a wide range of organisations involved through the CPG - including various Clyde Yacht Clubs, the CA, BM Scotland, the Scottish boating Facebook groups and many others. Great collaboration.

A good outcome, but perhaps premature to say “binned”, rather than deferred for now? Need to remain vigilant.
