RIP Percy Blandford.

Promotion of a short print run of a book produced as a labour of love by relatives is about as far from commercial use as you can get and still involve money.

I remember Percy Blandford as a genial fellow scout instructer at the Longridge Scout Center in the '60s, always a source of advice, help and fun., Malcolm

I have no commercial interest in this whatsoever, but I understand that if one were to email diane.naested AT gmail.com, it would be possible to find out how to obtain the autobiography!

Another +1, generally the mods do a decent job but this is outrageous. This is a boating website and the book was a non-profit short run about a great designer of boats. Mods you should be ashamed of yourselves.

I couldn't agree more Carole, and have just contacted the YBW ' webmaster ' about this; the decision to ban Diane and mention of the book is utterly bizarre and heavy handed to say the least; a ' Not for profit, labour of love ' book which would be of widespread interest to the people on these forums.

Meanwhile boat delivery companies, brokers and chandlers are free to mention their profit oriented businesses...

Will those MODS name themselves. Thanks to Percy Blandford's PBKs I also took to the water

You'll be the next sent on indefinite shore leave when they see that!

Might as well sign up for the "other place" now.

Signed up but didn't see anything I liked and never did more than occasionally look. Anyway it was only an honest question/observation! This is all so bizarre it really does justify a response from the Modgods.

Yep, like to add my name to the list of "outraged" forumites, I presume though the mods are younger than most forumites and may not have been aware of Percy Blandford and his contribution to sailing boat design. I can't believe a limited run edition of the mans biography would have been compiled as anything more than a deserved tribute, I can't imagine the author/publisher retiring on the profits. More a labour of love than a commercial venture.

This was a labour of love myself and my sister always promised we would get Gramps autobiography published he wrote this himself aged 95yrs a feat in itself and we have only had 500 copies printed we just wanted to get his story out there as it is an amazing one not for profit or recognition but because we are proud to of been his granddaughters. Thankyou everyone for your support regards Carole Blandford

... or even a video of someone interviewing a bunch of their mates and promoting products available at SIBS. Seems like the mods have this one wrong, and hopefully will have the good sense to correct it.
