The most widely used is the Loos & Co. gauge. The standard range is accurate to 5% at mid range, the Pro series is accurate to 3% at mid range. The Pro gauge can be left on the wire whilst adjustments are made.
They come with full instructions and are straightforward to use.
Sailmakers usually quote Loos tension gauge settings in their tuning guides for popular boats.
