Rewiring Boat

Well it doesn't actually take that much more time to do it properly when you have everything apart and it saves a vast amount of time (and stress if you are sea) fault finding if/when things go wrong.
Like anything on the boat, lots of thought and some very detailed execution makes the boat so much easier and more pleasant to sail.

I have found the biggest challenge to neatness is the fact that anything on a boat is rarely static for long. I'm forever adding and changing things, much of it electrical, so I'm constantly changing the wiring. That makes cable routing and neatness a nightmare!

If you are doing a refit I highly recommend making removable cable trunking to run around the perimeter of the cabin, to the nav desk and anywhere else you have or may want to place electrical equipment.
That way you can open it up and add (or remove) equipment neatly (see below beneath chart plotter).
Just takes some forethought and planning prior to installation.
This was part way through before the electrical panel (and parts of the interior) were complete
Mine was so bad and had so many dubious and poorly fitted electrical add ons with undersized cables that I ripped the whole lot out, binned it and started again.
Also stops all the cables getting caught and pulled out.

Where did you get them (left hand-fused), please? So far I found only made by Phoenix, but £10 for each, which is expensive as I will need around 40.

You may have sourced it by now, but just in case not, I believe my source was RS Components.
They are WAGO blocks, possibly these ones 2-conductor fuse terminal block; for mini-automotive blade-style fuses; per DIN 7258-3f, ISO 8820-3; with test option; without blown fuse indication; 2.5 mm²; Push-in CAGE CLAMP®; 2,50 mm²; gray | Rail-Mount Terminal Blocks | Electrical Interconnections | products | WAGO Türkiye.

The spring securing method is extremely secure, and arguably better than a screw terminal.
The only part I don't like the fact the wire enters from the top rather than inline, but that's more OCD than anything else.
