Hi All

We are going this year for the first time and have booked our mooring direct with the organisers, so what is the form for the weekend do you go in the morning find a space pitch your chairs and then stay there all day? if we want to go back to the boat should we take our chairs with us? are you allowed to take in food and drink in a cold box etc etc

Thanks Chill

I don't know about chairs etc, but in the past you have not been able to take any food or drink in!

We are going again this year having also booked a rewind mooring. I think most would park up the chairs and stay all day but we chose which acts we liked popped back to the boat as when.
As said no alcohol but yes to taking your own food. There are plenty of food outlets to inside to choose from and bars.
What is your mooring number?

Can't bring in your own alcohol, but we seem to get away with soft drinks.

Of course, red wine looks like Ribena, and cider like irn bru.

Just saying.. ;)

It's a disgraceful disregard for the rules, Ross! I believe that some people also put rum in large Coke bottles (50/50) and even gin or vodka in tonic.....quite appalling.

:D

We are also there on the official moorings. We tend to go in the morning with our chairs watch a few bands pop back to the boat for a bit and then back in for later afternoon depending what bands are on.

As others have said you are not allowed to take drink in but some people with a total disregard for the rules have been known to pass a rucksack over the fence!!

Food inside is good, we BBQ on the Friday and then go in for the Friday night party.

This looks like it's going to be a forum meet!

We are going for the third year in a row, but have booked a mooring on the opposite bank near Phyllis Court with Steve of SRB Moorings. It is much quieter and we use Steve's river taxi to get across to the site. A bit pricey at £5 per head each way, but when comparing the mooring fee against the official site moorings there is probably still a saving.

In previous years we have arrived on the Friday evening. All the food and drink outlets are open and there is usually no queue to get your wristband which there will be on the Saturday. Just set up chairs and use that area as your base, although you will be a fair way back from the stage.

Re drink, certainly last year they were being pretty strict about not allowing anything through, including making people empty water bottles before entering. They were also wise to the trip of slipping bottles inside the folded up camping chairs.

There are plenty of food and drink outlets, but getting a glass of white or rose wine which was even remotely chilled proved to be a bit of a challenge. The first year we went there was a fine wine stand, but it was not there last year. Plenty of beer available though and there was a water tap to fill up the bottles which had just been emptied at the entrance!

Great weekend though and let's hope the weather is kind.

Thanks for the info we booked one of the last spaces A33 looking forward to it.

Got the Festival first looking forward to seeing Madness on the Friday.
