Re: Light the blue touch paper...........

Believe it or not new boat money was supposed to be for house extension but somehow another bedroom and a bigger kitchen did not seem quite as much fun...

Some of these posts are getting a bit bitchy "We love Petrol" or "Diesel forever" Club and I don't really care. We could have saved lots of money by buying a petrol version but I chose diesel because I like the smell of it..... well not quite just that but it made more sense for us - our choice and thats it. I don't knock owners of petrol ones as that was their choice too - so perhaps we should all leave each other alone and talk about boats and leave the fuel prices to the fuel price forum.

Over and out

Re: Light the blue touch paper...........

Being quite new to this enjoyable forum and perhaps more old fashioned than my tender years might suggest I do find it a bit silly when posters are shot down with "crap!" etc. Whilst I am thick skinned (or just thick), I would fear that some may be put off contributing to this forum for fear of causing offence etc which would be a shame indeed.

I will get off my soap box and go to bed zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Good night all

Re: Light the blue touch paper...........

The lack of places which sell petrol vs diesel isn't really a problem. Most petrol boats don't often do the long distance cruising that diesel boats do.

Even when they do go longer distance, there is usually somewhere to refill.

Only problem I have is Lymington to Salcombe.

Would be nice to fill up at Weymouth (can do the trip on one tank, but like to have the safety of a full tank to go across Lyme Bay) but can still refuel there, just means a bit of a walk with borrowed cans from the marina to the petrol station with a trolley from the marina. Then there's always Torquay and Dartmouth, which means a detour, and not ideal.....

Bit of a bummer, but there's always a way of achieving what you want to do.

Re: Light the blue touch paper...........

Before I changed the fuel filter on the boat, I had and outboard fuel connection that I plumbed into the spare inlet in the top. It had 2 inlets and 2 outlets. So all I had to do was turn of the fuel cok to the main tank amd plug in a 30 liter outboard tank. I had two of these giving an extra reserve over the main fuel tank. You could also transfer the fuel into the main tank by not turning of the fuel cock. It saved all that splashing and spilling of fuel with the funnel and cans.

Neat little trick that I devised when I run out of fuel in the Needles channel. Decided then that I needed a quick way of restarting on reserve fuel. You could argue that it was bad planning on my part........er......you'd probably be right!!

Sounds to me like a case of "bought cake now wants to change the rules so as to be able to eat it". You made you choice now grow up and stick to it. By the way I'd like to see you walk away from a pair of Seatec's.

What do you mean the sea gull in front's walking !!!

Hmm! Excellent idea. Sounds like something I should look into. Don't think I've got a spare inlet, but sure I could get one put in, and think I can visualise where I could route the pipes.

Fer gawds sake, I thought Harry was a donkey in the Horse Guards. Now in 6 words, he goes from being said donkey, to being a goat and then an ape. I'm totally confused. My head hurts....need to turn off the lights and have a cig. Sh*t, I can't. Customs robbed em all today...bugger.
