Reversing Camera - Targa 40

So i log on an see an old thread .... happy days.

Mounting on the top of the garage behind the plate worked very well and my old boat is parked next to ( literally) my now ex boat in Mallorca and it is still working well.

The moving garage causes no issues, you just have a small loop in the wire as you would if you look inside you car boot / bonnet.

The wire then continued down the stbd side of the boat where there is a space running to the helm.

I also trief adding a cable to the radar arch and i like you could get nowhere. I used one of the nylon type cable pullers but I could not get a clear passage.

The T40 is a small boat, so you can see the back easily enough, the only thing the camera is really doing is showing you the distance between the platform and (in the med) the wall you are backing against and for this it was excellent.

Good luck

I fitted a similar system, using a wireless system, a couple of years ago on my 44ft sportscruiser. Works well and have been so happy that I have now fitted a second one onto the side of the boat so that I can see the "blind" portside of the boat when I'm mooring up.

Be careful when having the boat polished though as my rear camera has been slightly damaged by cutting abrasive applied liberally when the boat was polished.

Inspired by this thread I bought a little camera and screen and fitted the reversing camera in my LR Discovery. Very cheap and easy to fit. It wil now be much easier reversing up to my boat trailer. I love these little gadgets of ebay/Amazon

Thanks for the heads up

Dennis

Fitted 4 off 12V cameras to my Targa 52, two each side high level and air-intake / pontoon level, all via a mixer so I get 4 pics on the MFD. 1 more to go for the engine room, need to switch via the MFD to see the output. All outdoor type with infra red and each less than £50. Now, if I can find out how to post photos, they'll be along shortly... sadly each failed to upload without cause so any polite guidance will be gratefully received!
