Rev Counter from a bicycle computer

[ QUOTE ]
Now if that's true ? whats need to mod or convert data for

[/ QUOTE ] The numbers are all there just need crunching a bit.
Max speed is given as 99.9km/hr, minimum tyre circumference is 60cm that works out at 2775rpm. (but please check my arithmetic)

On the face of it you'll get a direct reading up to that rpm possibly more but I would not be surprised if you find that the display only reads up to 999!

Get bidding and report back!

mmmmm well I went for Buy it Now at 2.74 all in ... so lets see what happens ... hadn't thought to compare units and calc out. I ignored wheel diam as rpm doesn't care, speed does ...

Bingo! - I knew I'd seen an article somewhere. A rev counter isn't crucial to my operation, but I do have a bike computer, and thought I could try it out.

What is crucial though would be a temp alarm, as the engine's direct sea cooled and I'm often out of the wheelhouse or not near the stern to check there's water running through.....

Thanks for taking the time to reply

For temp - I'm going to trial a cheap off the shelf temp display ... type you get for sticking on the wall at home - gives inside and by lead / sensor temp outside ... most will go up to about 70 - 80C, which should be enough.

Like this (which matches my weather station gear) ...

Ignore the different temps - probe had just been moved and hasn't settled yet.

or you can get with slim display for sticking car dashboards.

We got one of these from ebay. Not fitted yet but looks ok and has the advantage that you can easily connect a loud alarm.

You could of course wander down to maplins and buy this ....

Temp. switch

May not be neatly cased ... but simple and easy to modify ?

Ok, so that is probably the same circuit that I paid 3x more for!

But, no-one loves a smartarse! /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Wrong first part of the word for me ... I'm more of a Tightarse !! Known for searching out cheaper alternatives.
