Having now used Amadeus-M for 12 months, incorporating;
Wonderful return trip from Southampton to Sonning.
May trip to Dunkirk for Evacuation anniversary.
Season on the non-tidal Thames, inc' 10 day trip to St Kat's;
we have returned the boat to Broom Boats (separate from CJ Broom, the boatbuilding subsidiary in administration) for winter work. I had a long chat with Andrew Stone and Colin Boast and received their assurances that the rest of the Broom operations were running normally and profitable. The only precaution I have taken is to secure a letter from the Administrator acknowledging no claim over my boat whilst with Broom.
Why back to Broom?
2 jobs relate to carpentry and the addition of items that were originally "options" when new and they have the drawings and will ensure that they blend with the existing interior as seamlessly as possible.
The other work is a combination or s/s work and mechanical and quite honestly, the sheer convenience of having it all done by the one company wins out over the cost of transport.
Swimbo and I have been delighted with the boat and instead of my usual impetuous way of buying a boat and diving straight in with refurb' work, holding back for a season is saving us a fortune. Many of the jobs we 1st thought of having done we have now either deferred or cancelled as unnecessary.
The Broom staff are super people to deal with and whilst probably not the cheapest I do feel that a good job will be done which rates with me as excellent "value for money".
