I have a 1991 Mariner 55hp 2-stroke outboard on my rib. It is a reasonably simple manual lift/trim. Is is possible to retrofit an electric lift/trim to it?

Possible but economic suicide.
Px for a later model with the facility is My advice.
Bugger to lift one of that size innit!
Or sell it.
Lots of people looking for that size of eng seconhand.
Even without trim and tilt.
