There used to be a small italian place about 2/3 of the way along Town Quay from the pottery end. Ate there with the kids a couple of years back. Grub OK, prices not too bad. There's an indian at the harbour end of the high street on the right as you go into town that is very good too (bloody hot, as well!)
From the town quay, there is a little side road that goes past and olde worlde sweet shop (truely scrumptious?). Anyway, as the road bends right there is a hotel on the left which has an archway with passage leading behind. There is a really good restaurant down there that does a varied menu for sensible prices!
Have you tried City Bay View Chinese Restaurant near Sunseeker? Fabulous!! They are located just before the Sunseeker offices on the left and through an archway. Highly recommended.
If you are a member of the RNLI you can use the RNLI restaurant which is kind of self service but good. The bar (often cheap cocktail offer) is above the restaurant and has doors onto a terrrace overlooking Holes bay. Quite a sight if you see the boats queing for the bridge. The meals were £12.50 for two courses last time I went.........and its all for a good cause
There are a few good places up the old High Street which is the little side road refered to by Jez , follow his instructions and carry on. Storm is well known for sea food, and there is a Thai further up and a pizza express. The Jazz Cafe on Poole quay is OK also.
Worth mentioning that Cobbs Quay have an onsite bar and restaurant where the quality varies from year to year and at Salterns there is the Saltern's Hotel, also on site with a bar and restaurant.

It's called "La Lupa", on the Quay between the High Street and the lifting bridge.
There's "Corkers" on the corner of the Quay and High Street, restaurant's upstairs, very good IMHO.
Several up the High Street, the pub with the arch that someone else mentioned, is the Antelope.
If your approaching the High Street from Dolphin Haven, as you reach the High Street there's an Indian on the left called "Tandorri Nights".
