OK - I voted "Cook on board" - but that's just 'cos we're broke having just bought new boat. As soon as she's paid for, it's back to "Good restaurant"!

That's because they are such a culinary treat that they are wolfed down as soon as they appear on board. Maybe............... :D

Not that I remember, though it's at least thirty years since I last tasted one. They are just very forgiving food items - packed in tin cans that can be wedged in anywhere, bounce them around in the bilges in all temperatures and preparation just requires half an hour in the oven - no implements other than a can opener required...

I'm going to buy one and try one later.Which flavour is best?

Hmmm, like anything in food, it's all a matter of taste. Personally, the idea of chicken and mushrooms horrifies me, but some seem to love it. The only Fray Bentos I have any recollection of is their Steak and Kidney - which I remember as being edible if you like that combination.

Lets be clear here - they are not Cordon Bleu material and I don't think I would ever choose one under normal circumstances. They are a decent fall back in conditions where you might not have alternatives that can survive the storage conditions...
