While sailing across to Oostend on Saturday 23rd we heard a Pan Pan from the yacht Sea Scape who was drifting with no engine and no wind in the north hinder TSS.After confirming his possition with Dover coast guard we were to far away to assist but kept an open ear on 16 and 67.Within an hour we heard a call from another yacht on her way back to Harwich from Oostend who was in sight of Sea Scape and offered a tow all the way back.Sea Scape said that they had been in contact with Oostend who were sending out a commercial boat to tow them in and claim salvage. As we were approching Ostend at this time we saw a motor boat with a day glow roof screaming out in their direction.
The conversation between the two yachts was being deliberately over spoken with whistles and mike klicks (IMHO)but i did hear Sea Scape greatfully accept the tow from the other yacht .At the same time i watched the MB from Oostend do a 360 and head back .As i spent the rest of the weekend in Oostend i didn't hear any more on this saga.
Has anyone heard if they returned safely?
