I've been lurking and read somewhere that Eastbourne was suggested as the border for the East Coast Forum. Any chance of shunting it Westward a little? The end of Newhaven breakwater will do, then I can go hard-a-port on leaving the river and be in friendly territory. My CV's a goodun' for membership...:D

Do we Kno Yer :rolleyes:

Doubt it Sailorman, I spent a winter 2005, on a bouy up alongside the Packing Shed at West Mersea courtesy of a man called Rob or maybe Rod, forgotten now, he was in the boatyard there by the Victory pub. He was a gentleman anyway and I lived aboard until bound for the Caribbean in the Spring. Didn't get to meet many locals,except the fishermen in the cafe, but the area bought back memories of childhood, and when I get back from sculling about in the sunshine, I'll be looking for a permanent berth up that way again.

We should draw a line at ..

Think we should draw the line at

N50.735586, E0.241699

or

+50° 44' 8.11", +0° 14' 30.12"

Its the only bit you could still say was just East Coast :rolleyes:

Otherwise we will have ALL the HOOOORAY Henries wanting a piece of the action ...

But I am sure someone will be along in a minute to suggest something else ..

CV should be submitted via the normal chanels, interviews will take place at the forthcoming Fitting Up Supper, these will consist of a quick fire question and answer system where the proposed candidate should ask all those present one question. This will be 'May I buy you a drink ?" and once said drink has been purchased and consumed by said member, then membership is confirmed :cool:

Failing that, a general acceptance of the accepted ethos of the East Coast Forum should suffice ;)

Can't type properly, the Hoooray Henry tag made me chuckle. I'm completely mystified now, this 'Fitting up supper' is it run by the local CID then? I thought you were all model citizens up that way, sounds like the place has gone downhill since I was a kid..:D :D

I don't think there's a model citizen amongst anyone here :eek::D
Fitting up supper is, I understand, being organised by one who has yet to be confirmed as capable of organising such events, not myself I hasten to add as I've already cocked it up once :o
Normally a good time to join in and meet a few people anyway, a bit of a nibble and a few fall down juices (for those that partake) and a general jolly time is had by all. I'm sure the organiser will be along shortly to advise of progress soon :rolleyes:

I think the close acquaintance of the Packing Shed should suffice.

I've never been to a dinner in the Packing Shed - didn't Mr F Circle organise such a thing once?

Dave - the Fitting Up has been booked so you have some notice to fiddle your shift rota and come. Mrs Sixpence can start putting 20p's in a jar.

I do agree that highandry (only one d?) should attend.

Sounds like something to look forward to, perhaps I should contribute by sending a bottle of the local 'Vino Collapso'? I'm wintering on the Algarve and bound into the Med in the Spring so I'll only be there in spirit.. In the meantime I'll be content to read the happy forum..:D

Can't remember the date or who's organising it at the moment :o
I blame work :cool:
Just been having a telephonic exchange with Morgana on the subject of moving Sixpence and I think we are agreed that there is a very good chance that should things go as planned, Sixpence may well be in attendance, and on own boat too for a change :eek:
Would the organiser of said event please step forward (not too far or you might fall off the bow :D ) and remind me of the plan so far

Nowhere is it writ that the area has to be contiguous. Surely we are free to establish enclaves, although this may involve lengthy negotiations on rights of free passage.

Newhaven is a nice spot and shares with Shoreham the immense distinction, dear I am sure to the hearts of East Coasters, of not being Brighton.

Yes, but is it muddy and shallow ? :D

We get in ok with 1.5m and a bottom-phobic admiral. There are shallow bits, like around the fuel berth and the lifeboat (how does that work?)

We have been aground there, but not for long. Mind you, she will remember it forever.

And doesn't muddy and shallow have a familiar ring to it?

The things Morgana will do to get rid of non-paying guests :p

Seriously that would be :cool::cool::cool:

He doesn't want any more noodles aboard :D
Fingers crossed Roger, fingers crossed, but at least things are looking up for a change, just hope the gathering falls at the end of a day shift so I'm not dead on the feet after nights :eek:
Just realised, better get painting again to make her look as pretty as she was before we launched :o
