Having removed my cushion covers from washing I was resigned to the fact that I was either going to have to replace the zips or sew the covers back on as they were, to put it mildly, broken.

Hoever, after washing, the nylon zips themselves looked in mint condition, only the metal runner bit that opens and closed them was corroded to buggery.

A trip to the local material shop and for less than £1 I have replaced all the runners on the existing zips.

Worth bearing in mind if you find yourself in the same position.

Now, should I replace the foam while I am at it????

Wayne . . . why didn't you post this a week ago??

We have cut our zips out and are in the process of replacing them with black japanned hooks and eyes - it's a lot of sewing.

Sorry, If you had asked a week ago I might have fetched my cushions early and maybe I would have been able to help.

Maybe next time.

Unfortunately they are metal again so I'm sure that I will have to redo them in a year or two again.

Quite easy to fit. Just unpick the end of the zip and feed to on. Can be a fiddle to get it started but did not take more than a min of two on each.

I fed the new runners onto the opposite end of the zip compared to the orig runners. Needed to do this as the previous owner and glued some teeth together on the orig "start" end to stop the runner coming off.
