Following the usual "ping-plop", I need to replace the lever/ handle on one of my Spinlock rope locking thingys (an Automatic XA).

I know how to replace it in theory...any hidden nasties I need to be aware of??

Thanks.

its pretty straight forward but does require full removal of the clutch (formal name for the rope locking thingies) from the deck unless its a single with access from both sides.
remove the 4 bolts holding the unit together (same whether its single or multiple. Nuts will likely fall out. Keep note of the orientation of the spring loaded arm. Look at an assembled version if the bits do fall apart.
THe stainless dowel (6mm i guess)may need a tap from a hammer and rod to remove it, this is a tight fitting part on the sides, not so on the handle/cam.
Same when reassembling.
Little silicone on deck when reattaching.
