You need to consider doing all metalwork included in the skinvfitting, valve bends etc as they are probably the same age and material. also jubilee clips for new stainless ones unless in mint condition.

For skin fittings a Fein vibrasaw with an offset diamond coated cutting head or the Bosch equivalent is far better than an angle grinder which tends to gouge the hull.

FF, threads like that are usually best started once you finish the job to avoid the embarrassment (of having to explain why during xmass vacations you're going to be still on the job )

I'll be interested to hear how you get on. I have one to remove on Match when I haul out next spring. I don't like its location - too hard to reach. I'm going to be fitting a new transducer for a CHIRP deep echosounder and the seacock location is ok for that, so I'll remove the seacock and use its hole for the transducer and refit the seacock (a new skin fitting) in a new more convenient position

Well jfm has advised me that my GJW insurance policy won't pay out if the boat sinks due to a seacock failing due to electrolysis... Ok, not really the reason, but he's right of course.

I'm just concerned, they are looking quite green, some crusty salt like deposits every now and again, something that when u think about them they just cause a concern, so easy cure - replace.

The Fein Multimaster mains model is shown and the offset tool is third from the right in the first picture.

Basically it allows you to cut close to the hull but parallel.

We use them all the time for mushroom head skin fittings.

Absolutely, I find it almost disgraceful that anyone would even stock brass fittings.

But dzr brass seacocks are the ones required. This article tells everyone what they need to know..,
