I need to replace both my standard deckhatch Gebo seals.
Is it a job I can do myself?
Or
Do I need to send the hatch openers away to be done?
And
If so where to?

Very grateful for your tips and advice.

Having it done myself last week I can say it's quite easy. Just pull out the old one. The first bit is the hardest. If your current seal is smooth, the new one will be slightly different. They now carry small ribs on the surface to enhance the seal.
Putting in the new one is a matter of pushing the seal into the slot. At the corners, just slide the seal through the slot so you do not need to push it in at the corner itself but just on the straight sections.
I'm not sure if the seal is sold at the exact length, but I suspect you need to weld the ends together yourself. My guess is you can use super-glue for this, just mind your fingers and make a exact fit of the two ends. If not you risk a leak at the weld-point.

Slightly drift...

I have Gebo ports and hatches on Pegasus. Last year, I replaced most seals as on going maintenance.

The service and support I received from them is the best I've encountered from a manufacturer. At one point, they shipped (next day service) extra parts I'd forgotten to order to complete the job.

Best part? I was not invoiced for the parts I had not ordered!!!! I was told that raising an invoice would cost more than the price of the parts. IMPRESSIVE TREATMENT.

GL with your project.

Well I am still waiting for an answer to an e-mail about leaking handles after 2 weeks, so perhaps things are going downhill.

So far I think there support is pretty poor.

Puts me of considering them as a replacement

Leaking Handles can have two causes.
Either the handle is too loose. By removing the blue locking pin you can access the screw behind it to adjust the tension. That's easy!

The other cause is not good. The top part of the handle (the part you see on the outside) has a rubber O-ring that seals the hole of the handle. If the handle was used quite a lot and the hatch surface was not kept clean, the O-ring has worn into the glass/plastic. If this process is too far you will need to replace the hatch to stop the leaking. Been there, done that... Don't consider replacing the glass/plastic panel alone. Been there, done that....

Good luck,

Arno

Has anyone relaced the felt seal/runners on vertical Gebo sliding windows? Also where to obtain parts needed.Mine have started to grow moss.

I've also e-mailed Gebo a week ago and still waiting for a reply. That's why you Guys are so handy.

Many thanks
