Replacing clear sections of boat covers

Following a extremely heavy hailstorm our boat has sustained some damage to the forward clear sections of the hood. Would a decent canvas man be able to replace just the window sections? In the meantime, it looks like we'll have to use some tape to keep the rain out.

I dont think we took any damage but then most of our canvass is off and I think the bimini was down

Covers guy should be able to remove old clear bits and replace with new into exisitng covers

3M do a translucent clear duct tape for medical purposes.

+1 per post #2. Any canvas man will stock clear window plastic and be able to custom cut and fit. In my experience, if you just replace one or two panels you will be amazed how clear they look and show up how the other ones have suffered UV degradation over the years, which you hadn't really noticed (up to now!)

1. Use duct tape
2. If you don't like duct tape, use a clear tape of your choice
3. Any cover maker will replace the windows for you. In the Med sun, windows need replacing more often than the thread which needs replacing more often than the canvas itself. Go figure

I've used this, once on you hardly notice it's there, so much so that after about 3 years it's still in place and I'd forgotten I'd made the repair.

It's called "making conversation"! Anyhow, it hadn't really occurred to me that replacing windows is normal within the life of the covers. Unfortunately cover making / repairing isn't something that we are well catered for in SCM. The one chap that people have relied on is winding down and of course there will be a lot of immediate demand due to the damage to other boats.

I never actually helm the boat with the forward / transparent section of the covers down as it make me feel sea sick.

It's a bit hard to find somewhere to store one on our T34 in Spain! However, I watched the video so at least have a feel for the effort involved.

We only have had ours up twice since May while motoring .
You just sit down .

Yep - we had the "mother of all hail storms".
Most of the damage was done to cars in the car park.
Dents in the roof etc
On boats, most of the damage was to covers with older transparent plastic windows where the UV has got to the fabric.
Jez - that boat next to you (with Ricci on) looked as though it had been shot with a machine gun.

AFAIK, there is no damage to JW and Seralia doesn't have any covers on at the moment.

Photos and videos never give a good impression of the actual scene.
Believe me, they were big pieces of ice falling.
